Configuring firewall in XP

How do I configure firewall in XP

Can some one let me know the steps. Also I want to block all the ports those are not required.

To enable Windows Firewall, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.
On the General tab, click On (recommended).

if your computer i connected to the router or mode basically those ports are closed for your protection but for some ports that is actually open by default for some application to work like email, chat etc.
